Menno Simon, a reluctant leader of the 16th Century, defended a return to Biblical faith as few others in world history have ever done. After centuries of state-sponsored religion he advocated faith in Jesus Christ as it had been taught and written by Jesus’ disciples in the first Century. This movement, which spread around the world at the hands of other true believers as well, endured persecution such as is still held as a sign-post in history today. He became the “father” of those who call themselves Mennonites today. His writings demonstrate a deep love for truth, for those who were suffering for this truth; and passionate desire for those who caused the pain to come to know truth as well.
